When we talk about creating spaces that matter, this one in particular holds a special place in our heart here at Elsy Studios. Our team has long been involved in supporting Denver CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocates). This organization advocates for the best interests of abused and neglected children in Denver Juvenile Court through the services of specially selected and trained community volunteers.

As President of the American Society of Interior Designers, Elsy president Lynn Coit led an effort to transform a run-down home on Capitol Hill into a safe and welcoming place for these children and their court-appointed advocates – an experience that reinforced for us just how powerful design can be in shaping the experience of a place.

The Refresh

So, when we were asked recently to refresh a children’s waiting area inside the Lindsey-Flanigan Courthouse in Denver, we knew we wanted to help. This is the room where kids wait while their Social Services cases are heard in court, so we were eager for the opportunity to create a welcoming, comforting environment during what is surely a stressful time.

This was truly a team effort, with everybody pitching in to move in the furniture and install the various pieces. Our principal Cathy Loftus and her husband, Jim, graciously offered to pick out and donate cheery and bright accessories, and Senior Project Manager Campbell Lloyd coordinated the efforts.

We want to send a HUGE “Thank you!” to Merchants Office Furniture for generously donating all the furniture.

We were truly delighted to have made an impact on such a meaningful space with the various talents (and big hearts!) of our team.
