Merchant & Gould

In 2014, Merchant & Gould moved their Denver offices to the 33rd floor of the revitalized 1801 California Street building. Along with the move, they sought to revitalize their office space with new furniture and warm decorative tones that exuded a fun, but hardworking atmosphere, spoke to their many high tech clients, and complemented the office’s sky-high views of the city. While many law firms choose to line every window with offices, Merchant & Gould was committed to fostering greater collaboration with an open floor plan. Elsy accomplished a warm and elegant yet vibrant office space by designing a three-dimensional space plan that recognized the need for private offices while exploring a number of new, creative options for defining public space. Cohesive design details in the modern and inviting reception area that double as a ‘public living room,’ natural walnut custom doors, statement LED lighting, decorative ceiling screens, as well as embellished hardware, tile, and fabric provide a modern twist to the traditional law firm aesthetic and keep the space light and bright. The result is elegant with an edge, efficient yet different, and creative, but not over the top.
