CREATING A HEADQUARTERS FOR PEOPLE AND PUPS ALIKE

As North America’s largest and fastest-growing pet care franchise, Camp Bow Wow needed a new headquarters that would accommodate growth, reflect their fun-loving brand, and be a safe, enjoyable environment for both employees and their furry friends.

The Elsy team worked closely with Camp Bow Wow’s branding team to effectively embody their brand in every detail of the space. The floor plan and furniture layout strategically provide ample space in each cubicle for dogs to walk around. There are even rooms for playtime with concrete floors (for easy clean-up) and gates on each end (for clear sightlines).

Flooring selection was a unique consideration in this space, given the inevitable heavy foot (and paw) traffic. It needed to be durable as well as cost-effective to replace. Reflecting the company’s ‘camp-feel’, the Elsy team brought the outside in with an organic-patterned plank carpet tile and accent green grass-like carpet tiles that blended open areas and closed offices. In the breakroom, the walls feature snack dispensers for employees, stocked with tasty human treats as well as dog treats in several flavors. Open collaborative areas throughout the space feature a variety of lounge furniture and writeable surfaces such as chalkboards and whiteboards.

DELIVERING BIG DESIGN ON A NONPROFIT BUDGET

Denver Scholarship Foundation (DSF) has been changing the lives of Denver Public Schools (DPS) students for more than a decade. After a successful rebrand, they were looking for a new location and updated office space that would not only embody their new brand, but also create a stronger workplace community. The new space needed to accommodate a primarily open concept and centrally located common space to facilitate interaction among employees. Elsy was involved from the beginning of the building selection process, including coordinating multiple test fits and creating pricing plans to find a building that fit DSF’s needs and budget.

Upon the selection of a space, Elsy designed a fresh and colorful space that enhanced the DSF brand and supported its mission of inspiring and empowering DPS students to enroll in and graduate from postsecondary institutions of higher education. The team worked closely with OfficeScapes on furniture selection and relied on strategic placement of finishes throughout the space to create a cohesive look and feel with primarily donated furniture and materials. The resulting space features a bright palette of primary colors and subtle branding elements, including a circular glass window near the entryway with circular light fixtures overhead.

🏆 2017 ASID Crystal Award: Custom Design Element

HIGH-END DESIGN MEETS FUNCTIONALITY IN A GRACIOUS OFFICE DESIGN

Elsy Studios gave this award-winning space the luxury, hospitality-influenced aesthetic they sought without ever compromising practicality and productivity.

Chevron wood doors, a sculptural faceted ‘concierge’ desk and an elegant color palette are punctuated by strategic pops of color throughout the space. Picture-frame windows looking into each office create an architectural backdrop for luxe-inspired accessories that create a welcoming and gracious environment for team members.

Thoughtfully curated artwork further fosters a sense of belonging for employees. A 26-foot-long floral art installation on the lobby ceiling serves as the focal point of the space, welcoming guests. The installation was so striking, it won the 2017 ASID Crystal award for a Custom Design Element.

To minimize noise in the open plan, Elsy utilized Whisper Wall panels in the conference rooms, felt wallcoverings and upholstery in the living rooms, and an extra acoustical barrier between the tenant spaces. The result is a work environment that seamlessly blends quiet zones for individual work, cozy living rooms for collaborative work and chic lounge space for socializing.

REINVENTING A HISTORIC INDUSTRIAL SPACE FOR A NEW GENERATION

Solidifi, a Real Matters Company, is a leading independent provider of valuation and closing services supporting residential real estate mortgage services. They needed a highly adaptable next-generation space that would support their high-tech needs and accommodate future growth.

This office space is located in the historic Dodge Brothers Showroom, commonly referred to as the ‘Ballet Building,’ on the corner of Lincoln and 13th Street. Designed in 1919, the building features large perimeter windows, which we emphasized to maximize views of the city and access to natural light.

The interior space features an open, flexible concept with dynamic and multi-leveled lighting optimized for both collaboration and quiet, heads-down work. The high, open ceilings showcase the existing historical concrete structure with sleek, low-profile light fixtures. By streamlining the data cables, electrical conduit and fire systems, we were able to meet the tech company’s needs without detracting focus from the architectural beauty of the building.

CREATING A HIGH-END WORKPLACE WITH CREATIVE MATERIALS AND DISTINCTIVE DESIGN

When Life Line Financial Group came to Elsy Studios, they had a dream of moving their family financial company from the overcrowded Los Angeles business district to the booming and family-friendly Denver Metro Area. After carefully evaluating high-rise buildings in Downtown Denver, they found a perfect fit in a newly constructed building in Denver’s highly desirable Cherry Creek neighborhood.

Elsy collaborated with the building architect to create a new office space that helped Life Line stand apart from their competitors with a design that is a true reflection of this company’s close-knit, familial culture Creative use of materials, such as a unique carpet layout, abstract wallcoverings and homey accessories achieved the high-end feel they sought without breaking the bank.

USING DESIGN TO UNIFY A TECH COMPANY’S CULTURE

This project is a wonderful example of the power of flexibility and collaboration. Elsy Studios was initially hired to create a new office space for SolidFire – a longtime client of our firm. Halfway through the project, SolidFire was acquired by NetApp. As a result of the acquisition, the design had to be quickly reworked to incorporate the new branding and company standards. Just as importantly, the design had to blend the two cultures and generate excitement for the shared future of this growing company.

Securing a prime Pearl Street location in Boulder meant employees were split between two buildings connected by a covered walkway. We created an interconnecting stair and large opening to connect the floors within each building. We then strategically placed a single beautiful breakroom for the 67,000-square-foot space in an area that would draw employees from all corners of the buildings together to enjoy snacks, games, two kegs and an unbeatable view of the Flatirons from an adjacent patio.

Work stations are spread throughout an open floor plan with ample conference spaces and phone booths to accommodate meetings and heads-down work. A 65-person bleacher seating area at the foot of the stairs serves as an energetic home base for all-hands meetings.

OPTIMIZING DESIGN TO CREATE A BIG IMPACT ON A BUDGET

A small budget does not have to equal a small design impact; it just means you have to be creative and selective. That is exactly what Elsy Studios did when we were hired by Miles Marketing to design their new office space.

Miles Marketing focuses exclusively on travel and tourism marketing. They wanted a space that reflected their fun culture and love of travel. New sit-to-stand workstations were grouped in quadrants divided by a variety of conference rooms and open huddle spaces, allowing employees to easily find a place for quick collaboration, or more formal spaces for longer, focused meetings. Custom travel-inspired graphics are visible throughout the space, creating a vibrant backdrop and reinforcing the client’s branding.

The large break room can be opened up completely to the main conference room, providing an opportunity for all 80 employees to sit in one room for the monthly all-hands staff meetings. With their energetic new space, the Miles Marketing team and culture are thriving.

MAXIMIZING MATERIALS TO CREATE AN UNFORGETTABLE DINING EXPERIENCE

This remodel of a Boulder, Colorado restaurant proves that great design doesn’t have to come with a hefty price tag.

We gave this space a new look while reusing existing materials to save on cost and minimize waste. Existing booths were repainted and re-upholstered. The floorplan was reimagined to fit the new concept, but we managed to keep the bar in the same space.

The beautiful architecture of the building was a selling point, but past tenants had experienced significant issues with the acoustics. In order to create the right vibe, we used recycled materials in three of the five ceiling bays to mitigate excess sound, and purposefully designed the bar space without TVs. The result is a completely refreshed space ready to welcome diners for a memorable meal.

STRENGTHENING PRODUCTIVITY IN COLLABORATIVE CORPORATE ENVIRONMENT

Well-established in the Denver Tech Center, this corporate law firm was looking to create a more collaborative environment for employees in a new office space. Through multiple test fit space planning exercises, Elsy worked closely with Pollart & Miller to find the right fit in the newly remodeled office building next door at 5700 S. Quebec St. in Denver.

Given the confidential nature of the firm’s work, careful consideration was given to designing the meeting areas for acoustical privacy and meaningful circulation patterns. To ensure the space still feels welcoming and collaborative, the centralized break room draws employees in to recharge throughout the day. Highlights in this space include large light fixtures that resemble sky lights, and boldly patterned banquette seating contrasted against energizing bursts of color. This welcoming area has become the social hub of the office, supporting a stronger culture within the firm.

CREATING THE ULTIMATE SPA DAY EXPERIENCE

Elsy Studios worked closely with Glosshouz’s owner to design a space that easily facilitated an entire day of activities at the spa – from socializing over cocktails and mani-pedis and getting treatments with friends in the specially designed room for private parties to enjoying a relaxing massage in a tranquil treatment room or getting a blow-out before a night on the town.

Given the multipurpose nature of the facility, the design had to optimize the efficiency of the program to accommodate the maximum number of treatment areas while still providing an upscale, comfortable atmosphere for clients and spa technicians alike. The front of the salon is designed to be conducive to a more social atmosphere while the back lends itself to quieter private treatment rooms, including several rooms with spa tubs.

The clean, bright white and mixed metal color scheme was thoughtfully selected to reflect a notion of beauty and polish, and appeal to the target demographic – women. Curved countertops, floral textured panels on the wall and light fixtures in the shape of tulips further highlight – and celebrate – the feminine nature of the space. The result is the ultimate spa day experience.
