COMMUNICATING UNLIMITED POSSIBILITIES IN A CONSOLIDATED HQ

This project represented a significant cultural shift for Workplace Resource, combining their sales and warehouse functions in a new facility and completely redesigning how they serviced their clients and worked together as a team.

Adding a challenge for the design team, as an office furniture dealership, Workplace Resource’s new headquarters had to be flexible enough to demonstrate an ever-changing array of visually appealing concepts, while still functioning as an office.

To that end, Elsy created a flexible design that allows Workplace Resource to shift furniture in and out as needed.

LED lighting was installed liberally and creatively to warm up the space without tying the client to a particular furniture arrangement. Minimal colors and classic wood tones were selected to provide a timeless backdrop. The result is a compelling and beautiful design solution that provides a world-class work environment for Workplace Resource’s team members.

The project was so successful that in 2015, that it was featured on the cover of Modern in Denver Magazine.

BRINGING THE OUTDOORS IN FOR AN APPROACHABLE AND DYNAMIC WORKPLACE

Designing for designers is the ultimate test for a firm. When Design Workshop, a landscape architecture, planning and urban design firm, moved their office to the first floor of their building, Elsy Studios set out to bring curb appeal to this unique space.

Through a combination of unexpected elements, organic and angular, we mimicked elements you might find in a park or urban development, giving the space a distinctive character that reflects Design Workshop’s craft. A large collaborative area was created front and center, featuring a spacious quartz countertop and pin-up board, which draws focus to the firm’s design process. Brick walls and wood floors were restored to their former glory, and a fun, fresh color pallette was selected to match the approachable attitude of the company.

With close collaboration, the result was an innovative inspiring space the company can thrive in.

FOSTERING GROWTH IN A REFRESHED, MODERN WORK ENVIRONMENT

Experiencing strong company growth, Innovest needed to expand their existing office to foster future advancement. Elsy Studios saw this as an opportunity to not only enhance their workspace, but to also reinforce Innovest’s unique brand throughout the space. The project was an occupied remodel, requiring creative thinking and close collaboration between Innovest, Elsy’s designers, and the building owner and contractor.

Carefully making use of every design element, Elsy introduced an edgy color scheme, modern finishes, and new textures to the space while still working within the existing footprint of the space. The team also used existing furniture and finishes, alongside new touches such as a wood veneer on the ceiling soffit, sleek light fixtures, decorative screens, and custom millwork.

When the client requested the conference room glass to be obscured with privacy film, Elsy saw this as an opportunity to use the glass as a canvas for a colorful abstract art film. The custom art film incorporated the office color palette, tying the bold design together. Blending modern design features with Innovest’s existing furniture and footprint, Elsy created an entirely new look and feel for the investment firm.

Supporting a Healthy, Active Employee Base in Boulder

Hybris, one of the world’s fastest-growing commerce platform providers, opened their new Boulder office in the summer of 2014. Many of their employees are competitive triathletes so showers, a gym and a flexible work environment were ‘must haves’ on their list of priorities. No stuffy offices and board rooms for these active tech employees.

All 50 employees have sit-to-stand workstations in an open floor plate. Small collaboration spaces are sprinkled throughout the suite, allowing for quick huddling and brainstorming sessions. Bike racks, lockers and shower rooms allow for employees to head outdoors for a quick bike ride during the day or as an alternative to driving into the office. Working within a tight budget, we creatively incorporated unique branding elements throughout the space, delivering a fun work environment that exceeded all expectations.

INFUSING BRAND INTO THE WORKPLACE

Capital Value Advisors enlisted Elsy Studios to create a professional, comfortable environment that also reflected the unique and non-traditional culture of the investment firm. Their new space needed to feel rustic, but modern in its look and feel. It also needed to include both heads-down private workspaces and room to entertain. Elsy found the perfect balance of rustic comfort and modern appeal with a custom designed collaboration piece that was used to visually unite various areas of the office and create a central gathering space for employees and guests. Custom wood veneer surrounds for private offices gave a high-end feel while a specialized barn door concealed the TV and lent warmth to the seating area.

Non-Traditional Design for a Denver Law Firm

When Merchant & Gould moved their Denver offices to the 33rd floor of the revitalized 1801 California Street building, they sought to revitalize their space with new furniture and warm decorative tones that exuded their fun, but hardworking culture.

While many law firms choose to line every window with private offices, Merchant & Gould was committed to fostering greater collaboration with an open plan. Elsy achieved the desired effect with a three-dimensional space plan that recognized the need for private offices while exploring a number of new, creative options for defining public space. Cohesive design details in the modern and inviting reception area that doubles as a ‘public living room,’ natural walnut custom doors, statement LED lighting, decorative ceiling screens, as well as embellished hardware, tile, and fabric provide a modern twist to the traditional law firm aesthetic and keep the space light and bright. The result is elegant with an edge, efficient yet different, and creative without ever being over the top.

Everything is Bigger in Texas

When Jerry Built approached us with the notion for a better burger joint, the concept was simple: people need to know there’s MEAT in that building. Subtlety was not an option. So we boldly sliced a glowing 30-foot bull through the structure, creating a stunning visual impact. In order to provide the transparency the owners sought, the kitchen is fully in view from the seating area, allowing patrons to follow the preparation process. Each restaurant includes a mural-sized collage of community images commissioned for that locale.

A deeper message about the owners values is carried in the interior and exterior finishes. Much of the wood accents are made from ‘beetle-kill’ trees and the building cladding is covered in live plantings appropriate for the geography. Following the initial flagship design, our working relationship continued with Jerry Built, resulting in design work for four additional locations.
