Sierra Sotheby’s – Truckee

When Sierra Sotheby’s International Realty set out to design a new office for their team in Truckee, California, they turned to Elsy Studios to help them craft a standout space. Having collaborated with the LIV Sotheby’s team in Denver, Elsy was excited to extend into the California market. Situated in a brand-new building designed by MWA Architects with picturesque views of a local golf course, the space offered the perfect backdrop to merge the sophistication of the Sotheby’s brand with the natural charm of Truckee.

Our design had to meet the program requirements, which included workstations, private and shared offices, while maximizing the building’s expansive natural light and views for all employees. Elsy carefully balanced modern and natural aesthetics throughout the design, incorporating bold patterns, mixed metals and crisp white accents to complement the warmth of the exposed wood ceilings. Acoustic treatments in the open office areas and conference rooms enhanced functionality by minimizing noise without compromising the light-filled, open feel of the space.

One of the key features in the space is the custom-designed blackened steel reception desk, which creates a memorable first impression with its lighted cutout logo. Brass light fixtures and black door hardware blend seamlessly with the industrial warmth of the exposed wood ceilings and structural elements.

The project presented unique challenges, including navigating pandemic-era uncertainties in 2020 and designing the project entirely remotely. Elsy collaborated closely with MWA Architects, GLA Morris Construction, and Merchants + Co to ensure the project stayed on track despite supply chain disruptions. The team’s flexibility and dedication allowed us to adapt to changing circumstances, ensuring timely completion without compromising quality.
